A practical photography guide to Angkor Wat covering light, lenses, sunrise, crowds and respectful shooting.
Start with light, not landmarks
Early and late light usually matters more than trying to collect every famous angle.
Sunrise
The reflection ponds are iconic, but arrive early and expect competition for position.
Lenses
A wide lens helps with architecture, while a short telephoto is useful for carvings and compressed details.
People and monks
Ask before taking close portraits and avoid interrupting worship or ceremonies.
My advice
I would photograph fewer temples more carefully rather than race through the whole park with a camera.
