Siem Reap Scams to Avoid

Common Siem Reap travel scams and pressure tactics to watch for around transport, tours, donations and purchases.

Transport misunderstandings

Agree route and total price before complex tuk tuk journeys.

Tour extras

Clarify what is included before leaving, especially on lake or outer temple trips.

Donation pressure

Be cautious with situations where you are pushed into buying or donating on the spot.

Shopping claims

Ask questions before paying a premium for products presented as handmade or local.

My rule

I would slow the interaction down whenever someone is pushing for an immediate decision.
