Best Restaurants in Siem Reap: Where to Eat in 2026

A practical 2026 shortlist of Siem Reap restaurants for Khmer food, casual dinners, fine dining, date nights and good-value meals.

Updated 20 Oct 2026

Siem Reap is one of the easiest places in Cambodia to eat extremely well. The city has serious Khmer cooking, training restaurants, modern Cambodian tasting menus, casual local kitchens and an increasingly strong cafe scene.

This is not a ranking from one to ten. I would choose by what kind of meal you want, because the best restaurant for a quick US$5 Khmer dinner is not the same place I would book for a special occasion.

Malis Siem Reap: polished Cambodian cuisine

Malis is a strong first choice if you want a polished introduction to Cambodian food in a comfortable central setting. The menu is broad enough for first-time visitors and works well for a nicer lunch or dinner.

Cuisine Wat Damnak: best for a serious tasting-menu dinner

Cuisine Wat Damnak is one of the city's landmark dining experiences. It focuses on Cambodian ingredients and seasonal tasting menus rather than a broad à la carte list. I would book it for a special evening, not a casual post-temple meal.

Embassy Restaurant: refined Khmer tasting experience

Embassy is another strong option for a more formal Cambodian dinner. It is especially useful if you want a tasting-menu format but a different style from Cuisine Wat Damnak.

JOMNO: modern Khmer without becoming too formal

JOMNO works well if you want contemporary Khmer cooking in a setting that still feels accessible rather than ceremonial.

MAOM Khmer Cuisine: a strong mid-range Khmer dinner

MAOM is a good choice when you want Cambodian food with more depth than a generic tourist menu but do not necessarily want a long tasting experience.

HAVEN: good food with a social-enterprise model

HAVEN combines Cambodian and Asian dishes with a training mission. It is a useful option for travelers who want an easy dinner with a clear social purpose behind the restaurant.

SPOONS Café Restaurant: another strong social-enterprise option

SPOONS is especially useful for breakfast, lunch or a relaxed dinner around Wat Damnak. It is a good bridge between cafe-style dining and Khmer food.

Khmer Kitchen: simple central option

Khmer Kitchen is a straightforward Old Market choice when convenience matters and you want familiar Cambodian dishes without turning dinner into an event.

Khmer Taste: strong budget option

For a cheaper meal near the center, Khmer Taste is worth comparing. This is the kind of place I would use for a quick local-style meal rather than a special evening.

Old Maison Eatery: good for a relaxed evening

Old Maison is useful when you want a casual but polished restaurant around Wat Damnak, especially for dinner after a slower afternoon.

Where I would eat by occasion

  • First Khmer dinner: Malis or MAOM.
  • Special occasion: Cuisine Wat Damnak or Embassy.
  • Modern Cambodian: JOMNO.
  • Social enterprise: HAVEN or SPOONS.
  • Budget Khmer meal: Khmer Taste or Khmer Kitchen.
  • Date night: Cuisine Wat Damnak, Embassy or a restaurant around Wat Damnak.

Do you need reservations?

For tasting-menu restaurants and high-season weekends, yes. For casual Khmer restaurants, same-day or walk-in dining is usually easier, but popular places can still fill.

Where to eat by neighborhood

Old Market gives you maximum convenience. Wat Bo is excellent for cafes and calmer dinners. Wat Damnak is one of the strongest areas for boutique hotels, modern Cambodian food and date-night restaurants.

My practical take

I would not eat every meal around Pub Street simply because it is convenient. Use central Siem Reap for one easy meal, then deliberately cross the river or head toward Wat Damnak for another. The food scene becomes much more interesting once you stop choosing by proximity alone.
