How many days do you need in Siem Reap? Compare 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 day stays with realistic Angkor and city plans.
One day
One day is enough only if you are using Siem Reap as a very tight Angkor stop. You will see highlights but almost nothing of the city.
Two days
Two days gives you one major temple circuit and one mixed day for more temples or town activities.
Three days
Three days is the minimum I would choose for a balanced first trip. It gives you space for Angkor, Siem Reap and at least one slower evening.
Four or five days
Four or five days lets you add Banteay Srei, Phnom Kulen, Tonle Sap or a countryside day without sacrificing rest.

Hey It's Cambodia practical take
My rule of thumb
Two days is possible, three days feels balanced, and four or five days lets Siem Reap become a destination rather than just the place where you sleep between temple visits.
Add time if you care about outer sites
Banteay Srei, Tonle Sap, Phnom Kulen, Beng Mealea and Koh Ker all compete with central Angkor for daylight. Extra days protect the trip from becoming one long transfer schedule.
