A realistic one-day Angkor itinerary covering Angkor Wat, Bayon, Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm without wasting time.
Before sunrise: leave Siem Reap
If you want sunrise, leave early with your ticket already arranged. If sunrise is not important to you, a slightly later start can mean a more relaxed breakfast and fewer hours in the heat.
Morning: Angkor Wat
Give Angkor Wat real time. Walk the galleries, study the bas-reliefs and move beyond the central postcard viewpoint.
Late morning: Angkor Thom and Bayon
Continue to Angkor Thom and Bayon. The giant face towers are dramatically different from Angkor Wat and deserve more than a quick photo stop.
Lunch and rest
Use the hottest part of the day for food, water and a break. A one-day itinerary becomes miserable if you treat rest as wasted time.
Afternoon: Ta Prohm
Finish the major sequence at Ta Prohm, where roots and masonry create one of Angkor's most atmospheric sites.
Alternative route
If sunrise crowds do not appeal, reverse parts of the classic route and visit Angkor Wat later. Your driver can help adapt the circuit based on traffic and weather.
Prepare the day
Check tickets, dress code and sunrise planning.
Practical note
Rules, access conditions and prices can change. For ticketing and visitor regulations, check the official Angkor Enterprise and APSARA National Authority information shortly before your visit.
Hey It's Cambodia practical take
A realistic one day route
I would protect the morning for Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, take a real break before the hottest part of the day peaks, then use the afternoon for Ta Prohm and one optional smaller temple if energy is still good.
What I would cut first
If the day is running late, cut a minor stop rather than shorten Angkor Wat, Bayon or Ta Prohm to ten minute photo stops. Those three are the core experience.
