Where to Eat Near Angkor Wat: Breakfast, Lunch & Temple-Day Food
Where and how to eat near Angkor Wat during a temple day, including breakfast, lunch, water, local stalls and when to return to Siem Reap.
Updated 20 Oct 2026
Eating near Angkor Wat is mostly a logistics question. You are inside a huge archaeological park, so the goal is not finding Siem Reap's best restaurant. It is staying fed and hydrated without ruining the temple route.
Breakfast before sunrise
For sunrise, I would eat something small before leaving or carry a hotel breakfast box. You can find food around the park later, but I would not depend on a full cafe breakfast before dawn.
Breakfast after sunrise
After sunrise, simple food and drink stalls around the main visitor areas can be useful before continuing to Angkor Thom or Ta Prohm.
Lunch inside the Angkor park
There are clusters of local restaurants and stalls near major temple areas. They are convenient for a break, but I would choose a busy place and keep expectations focused on practicality rather than destination dining.
Should you return to Siem Reap for lunch?
On a one-day circuit, usually no. The return trip breaks the route. On a multi-day pass with a midday rest strategy, returning to the hotel can make sense, especially in hot weather.
Water
Carry more water than you think you need and buy more during the day. Heat and stone exposure add up quickly.
Food for families
Bring a few familiar snacks for children. Temple days are not the time to discover that the only nearby lunch option is something they refuse to eat.
My practical take
Eat for convenience during the temple day, then save your serious food plans for Siem Reap in the evening.
