Plan Angkor Wat and Siem Reap in 2026: tickets, temple routes, sunrise, transport, dress code, itineraries and practical tips.
Why Angkor deserves more than a rushed visit
Angkor is not a single temple. The archaeological park spreads across a huge forested area north of Siem Reap, with Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Bayon, Ta Prohm and dozens of lesser-known sites. A good plan balances headline temples with travel time, heat and breaks.
Angkor tickets in 2026
Official Angkor Archaeological Park passes are currently US$37 for one day, US$62 for three days and US$72 for seven days. The three-day pass can be used across seven days and the seven-day pass across thirty days. Buy through Angkor Enterprise, its official channels, kiosks or counters.
How many days do you need?
One day is enough for the essential highlights, but two or three days gives the site room to breathe. First-time visitors who care about architecture and history usually get much more from a three-day structure than from trying to compress everything into sunrise-to-sunset marathon sightseeing.
Essential planning guides
Start with our Angkor Wat tickets guide, then check opening hours, dress code and the best time to visit.
Choose your itinerary
For a short visit use our 1-day Angkor itinerary. With more time, follow the 3-day itinerary, or compare the Small Circuit and Grand Circuit.
Getting there from Siem Reap
Most visitors base themselves in Siem Reap. Read Siem Reap to Angkor Wat, our transport guide and the tuk-tuk price guide.
Practical note
Rules, access conditions and prices can change. For ticketing and visitor regulations, check the official Angkor Enterprise and APSARA National Authority information shortly before your visit.
Hey It's Cambodia practical take
What I would book before arriving
I would sort the Angkor pass, first morning transport and hotel before adding tours or restaurant reservations. Those three decisions remove most of the friction from the first 24 hours.
A simple first timer structure
Day one should cover the essential Angkor monuments. Day two can go deeper into the Grand Circuit or Banteay Srei. Day three is where Siem Reap itself starts to matter, with food, markets, museums or a countryside activity.
